I'm interested in Donkey Kong too but doubt I'll pay full price for it this year. And of course I'm getting Halo: Reach with the console bundle. Solid Holiday season but not as crazy as some years. October seems to be the best month....and September seems dead outside of Halo & Metroid. But that's a good thing.

Some people will be playing Goldeneye & Gran Turismo the same day...like its fucking 1998 again!

At first I agreed that it was too soon. But after learning about how different the game is supposed to be with the whole party system, training assassins, etc, on top of the fact that its double the size of AC2 from what I've read, I'll definitely take it. I loved AC2...great game.

Typical for an Iwata Asks columns, this one began with some jokes between Iwata and Sakaguchi. Iwata joked that he was filled with deep emotion about meeting Sakaguchi for the interview. The reason for this is that he gets the feeling that many people throughout the world feel that Sakaguchi is distant from Nintendo. Sakaguchi responded that he gets the same feeling.

While Iwata admits that there was a point in the past where Sakaguchi may have been distant from Nintendo (he managed to say this without mentioning Final Fantasy VII), he currently does not feel this distance in the least bit. He pointed out that Sakaguchi appeared beside him back in 2005 for the announcement of the Nintendo-published and Mistwalker-developed ASH.

Red Steel 2 was doomed from the start....it had an ultra-niche look to the visuals, AND was named after a game that disappointed over a million people.

I like Van Damme, but Jet Li has moves that people like Van Damme and the rest can only dream of. In terms of fight choreography that is.

ASH was the sakaguchi DS game, don't think it was released in the west at all. I forgot about it.

I read that AC3 used the same assets as AC2 in terms of the city, sorta like Liberty City stories.

But he launched a sequel to a critically mauled game, 4 years later with cel-shading, that had nothing to do with the first game and required a peripheral that pushed up the price. And it even missed the holiday season. He was fighting against it from the get go.

I love all the Prime games, and 2 is a great game, just harder and darker than the first. Obviously you guys lack the testicular fortitude to play such a ruggedly manly game.

Iga is right though, the first NES game sucked.

MP2 ain't even that hard.

Wii never really got a huge 3rd-party title, thinking back. It never got the equivalent of a Resident Evil 4, major exclusive game. Really, the Gamecube had a LOT more support than Wii in the normal market, through multi-platform games. But Wii tapped into that crazy new place and that's gonna keep it going for awhile.

I doubt Dragon Quest 10 will even stay a Wii game. By the time that game comes out we'll be halfway through NEXT generation. 3DS or next-gen consoles, my prediction.

In terms of software, this year Wii is in pretty much the same position it's always been in, with a few decent 3rd party games to look foward too like DQ10, Goldeneye, Epic Mickey and 1st party stuff like Metroid DKC and Zelda. It's pretty healthy at the moment, but in terms of newly announced games, from here on out I think 3rd parties will have given up and are going to focus on 3DS over Wii in terms of core games and then waiting around to see what Wii 2 is like.
