Wii comes strong in the end to finally take the lead for a month. As expected Christmas is Nintendo time. 360 had an incredible year, who would have throught that 5 years in it would have a sort of resurgence. PS3 is lost in the wind, Sony bail out, start over.
2010 vs 2009
DS 8,557,500 (-23%)
360 6,764,089 (+42%)
PS3 4,33,500 (-.1%)
Wii 7,019,900 (-27%)
LTD
DS 47,284,258
360 25,395,075
PS3 15,462,196
Wii 34,154,281
PS3 is at least consistant... Wii will surpass 40 million by the end of 2011 even if it drops by a million units sold year on year, wow. By next year the console sales will be 40, 30, 20 million, that is a very nice scale of performance.
Very surprised GT5 didn't post in the top 10. I have a feeling that even with delays and cost, the worst thing that happened to that game was GT
rologue. That was enough to keep a lot of fans satisfied I think.
Good to see DKCR and Epic Mickey show up as high as they did. DKCR really is a monster. It's doing well here and Japan. Can't say I was a huge fan, but the game was clearly made with care and respect to the franchise so it deserves it.
And as I mentioned earlier regarding the PS3 Piracy I think this is one more sign that they'll be launching the PS4 sooner than we've all anticipated. They're dropping in sales after a big periphreal launch and that's got to be disappointing for them.I don't see Sony as a company that is complacent sitting in 2nd and 3rd place.
This can't be true, I was waiting to play Zelda on Move this year because Nintendo would go third party
Good to see Epic Mickey do seemingly decently despite the really really bad online presence (despite overall decent scores outside a few crap ones) as I thought it's flawed but good. A sequel that they can actually finish without rushing it and outsourcing crap to random ass foreign studios would be very welcome indeed, but considering they wanted a Mario killer I doubt that Disney will be happy with the performance and admit their mistakes in handling it and instead just blame the studio or the platform and do something completely different next.

^Is that a meme? Because you are the only one I've ever heard say it.
Nope, it's commentary on the weekly doom and gloom from last year that barely needed an excuse to occur. Hell I'm sure even these numbers will be twisted by some due to the % drop despite still outselling all competitors, by an even larger margin if we go worldwide (despite a lot of the doom talk coming due to the state in Japan).

I hope you're not right about that. They set the stage for a sequel and it deserves a polished one. I think the Japanese sales will be the decided. I predicted 2 million copies sold and I'm sticking wiith that. My guess is its already done a million sales, and in Japan Mickey is insanely popular so I think that's a safe number. I guess the real question is what did Disney predict. Probably something ridiculous like 5 million.
There is no doom and gloom just the CLEAR evidence that the Wii is on the way down, not up. Nintendo should be thinking of its next console sooner rather than later.
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm -- 1.5MM
Disney's Epic Mickey -- 1.32MM
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit -- 906.4K
Holy shit @ Epic Mickey.
Yeah. Disney license will do that.
I guess if you don't read stuff online, there isn't. It's a really, really, really, really, really long way down with such sales (outselling a so called relaunch) so despite the situational drop which could be attributed to any number of factors, they have no reason to be thinking of anything and instead just stick to whatever plans they have had.

Who online is saying Nintendo is going third party, come on that is absurd. They are the most profitable company by a mile.
Yes as you say that have a long way down to go so they will continue to do great but as a business it would be wise to take notice that your product is on its decline and start thinking of the next big thing.
Noone is saying they're going third party I thought i made that clear in my first response on the subject. To say there was no doom and gloom is ignorant and I have no interest in digging up shitty articles I had no interest to see in the first place but came across one too many times anyway just to satisfy that.
Nintendo's next big thing is the 3DS, and any tech based company is always thinking of what's next, regardless of how their current products are doing, so that's just stating the obvious, and unrelated to any situational drop.

Yeah, Aggie. You're going to pop a hemorrhoid.
NPD Day? DAMMIT.
Also, WHAT THE FUCK SEGA. Man that collection is weak. And Microsoft only? WEAK.
Sega Bass fishing? WTF?
Sonic Adventure has already been re-released and ported a billion times. Crazy Taxi is already available for DL on XBL. Bass fishing? That would make sens on the Wii or Move, but not with Kinect. And Space Channel 2 -- which only came out in the west on the PS2. Ignorant fuckheads. They probably went with Space Channel 2 over 1 to avoid paying royalties to MJ's estate.
Why not some games that have not come out already or people care about? Because they would prefer to sell that through other, more profitable channels. (LIke Chu Chu Rocket on iPhone - eventually).
Very weak collection.
