The optimist proclaims we live in the best of all possible worlds
while the pessimist fears this is true.

Thanks for posting those pics Agnates, I saw them but couldn't be arsed with using Opera to copy the link addresses. What kind of game is this anyway? The video made it seem like a simple action game. Are you looking forward to it?
The eurogamer RE ORC preview is scathing.
No clue. They say it's an action RPG. The footage certainly didn't look like an RPG at all. Maybe it's Castlevania-like. Need to see more. The devs also made the Wii One Piece games.

Yeah I'm not inspired by the developer either.
So....... no one picked up on this yesterday, probably because it sounds so ridiculous:
Wii 2 rumours - One console for life
Upgradable in parts
NGamer, has shared in its latest issue that Project Butterfly is the codename for the Next Nintendo Console. This new console is planned to be something that last for LIFE. Instead of buying a new console every year a new generation comes up, all you need to do is buy a new component and just upgrades it.
thats ubisoft for you they honestly don't care about making good games only making fast crap for money
Nintendo going third party and making PC games!

LOL, Project Butterfly sounds like a PC where you add new parts.
It's getting sad, they announce that they have X number of Wii and now 3DS games in production, then 3/4 of them turn out shit.

Ocarina scans looks good. I don't know how I feel about this game, I own it on N64 and I have the GC version with Majora and zelda 1 & 2 on the same disc. I have played the game so many times its practically imprinted on my memory.
On the other hand its just about the only full, proper adventure game the 3DS is likely to see for quite some time and it has improved visuals as well as the 3D effect.
I actually prefer playing an old game like this on a portable, but still, I own the game already.
New controls should be pretty cool. Touch screen item switching without pausing, touch ocarina, (optional?) motion controls for first person view (just turn your whole body to look around or aim) etc. They've said there is new content in a previous interview but no details were given so it could just mean the motion controls and enhanced graphics. I have never finished the game (had a Saturn and then PS back then, I did watch a lot of the game played by friends @ the local store though) so I'll probably get it when/if I get a 3DS (not soon).

It's a great game. Looking back though I almost feel as if it's too involved for modern gamers who wont be able to do some of the temples. I think some of the added content is the master quest stuff which I tried on the GC disc. It just seemed to be dungeons with a bit of rejigging and not something I enjoyed.
I think they are going to do a iron boots touch screen icon.
People who played it on N64 will get that and why it's funny. And maybe they might tweak the dreaded water temple.
I'm not sure how they should have updated the visuals. If they did it to the full extent of the 3DS the new stuff would jar with the old. I think when link opens a chest and the item floats above the chest they will put it popping out of the screen.
Zelda, Resident Evil and Metal Gear have me really tempted to get a 3DS even though I shouldn't.
So beautiful....
Hey did anyone play White Knight Chronicles? Going against my better judgement here, and considering picking it up. The reviews are generally bad, but the more I read the description the more I think to myself.... this looks like a typical Level-5 RPG minus the combat. How bad could it really be?
VERY BAD!! Don't waste your money! Rent it first, if you can! The combat system is very, very poor and there's not much else to the game. It's like Level-5 was going to make a kick-ass action-RPG, developed all these crazy, linkable combos, then decided to go turn-based with it... It all just DOES NOT work. It's hard to describe and it is unfortunate because the game is at least PRETTY, but over-all it is HORRENDOUS!! DON'T! JUST DON'T!!
Okay, fair enough. I remember you playiing it and realizing you were having a miserable time with it. Couldn't remember what was bad about it. Maybe I'll just look into grabbing a copy of Dark Cloud 2 or Rogue Galaxy instead.
Official Nintendo Magazine is celebrating the success of the Nintendo 3DS console with a world-first interactive cover created with the help of its readers. The next issue features the best 100 readers’ Miis on a special gatefold cover, selected from the thousands sent in by committed Nintendo fans via the magazine's website.
Best bit? You can get hold of any of them you like for your own 3DS, thanks to the eldritch magic of the handheld's QR code scanning function. Every Mii has its own code printed on the back of it, meaning that a quick zap of the 3DS' camera will pop them off the page and onto your screen.
Above: Pop!
Issue 68 also features a brilliant Zelda double bill, with in-depth previews of Ocarina Of Time and Skyward Sword. There’s also an exclusive window cling free with every copy.
Famitsu review details
After a two-week-long hiatus, reviews have returned to the pages of Famitsu magazine. Here's a quick look at the more interesting releases due to hit shelves over there next week:
- Cubic Ninja (8/7/7/8, 30 points): AQ Interactive's action game is more about looking silly than about basking in 3D glory, it'd seem. "The game places more emphasis on tilting the system than on 3D visuals," one reviewer said, "but it's smooth and lets the player do a lot without much effort. The ability to go to the foreground and background is particularly fresh and fun."
"You have to move your body around all over the place to play this, which is kind of neat," another added. "You might want people to watch you play, but doing the opposite is a fun experience. It's a little hard, though, to discern the ups and downs of each stage. It would've been nice to have a manual camera mode to deal with this." Another complaint: "The content is extremely simple and probably won't appeal to everyone."
- Pilotwings Resort (8/7/7/9, 31 points): Famitsu seemed impressed with the package here, even though it's nothing very new. "The 3D visuals make it a lot easier to get a grip on positioning and create a really nice you-are-there feel," one review began. "There aren't many modes or vehicles to ride, but gradually getting into the game via Free Mission mode allows for a nice, laid-back play experience."
"There isn't much about this game's fun that makes it different from previous titles in the series," said another, "but the beautiful 3D visuals evoke much more of a realistic feel nonetheless."
- Persona 2: Innocent Sin (7/7/8/7, 29 points): Atlus's PSP remake of their classic PlayStation RPG gets treated a lot more coldly scorewise than more recent titles in the series, even though the review text was pretty positive. "The story, which is based around solving rumors that come true, is still innovative even today," one editor said. "It matches really well with the creepy world setting. It's just as fun now as it was before, and things like the Theater Mode and the ability to switch between old and new soundtracks make the package more than just a nostalgia trip for seasoned fans."
On the other hand: "There are load times for every battle, and you don't get a lot of guidance throughout the game. Overall, there are a lot of little niggles that bothered me."
- Homefront (8/7/7/9, 31 points): As with US reviews, Homefront has apparently been received well in Japan, but it's not the blockbuster 10/10 review frenzy that THQ might've hoped for. The main problem for Famitsu: The unsatisfying campaign mode. "The story and setting of campaign mode is really interesting, but it's a shame that it ended so quickly -- a lot more so than I was anticipating," one writer said. "The movie-like direction and attention to detail in single-player is great, but I also felt you moved a little too sluggishly." Another editor echoed this opinion: "Joining the resistance against the Korean army is an extremely interesting concept, but the game ends just when you're starting to get excited about the story. It really needed more volume."
At least multiplayer is solid: "Multiplayer is about more than just killing enemies; up to 32 players can compete at once, and I like how you can earn points to purchase special weapons with."
- Crysis 2 (9/9/9/9, 36 points): This FPS, on the other hand, got a lot more adulation from Famitsu. "It's fun to use your Nanosuit's superhuman abilities to fight," the magazine said. "The way this serious FPS action is fused together with things like high jumps and powerful melee attacks works really well, and the graphics are pretty enough to suck you into the world."
Another editor liked the innovation the hero's super-skills brought to the genre: "The hero's pretty strong, having a lot of mobility and defensive moves, and as a result you're able to actively go on the offensive a great deal. You do have to keep an eye on your ammo and energy, but being able to use your special skills to their fullest is an exhilarating experience."
A few new scraps of information have appeared regarding EA's rumoured Burnout Crash project.
According to the Australian Classification Board's product description, as reported by Joystiq, it's "an action arcade style game set in the fictional world of Crash City. The aim of the game is to cause as much damage as possible to traffic and buildings by crashing a car into them."
That would tally nicely with prior speculation that the game is the Crash Mode-specific PSN/XBLA title that developer Criterion Games has apparently been toying with since the 2008 release of Burnout Paradise.
