It's on sale here in Europe.

Have you played all the Halo games? How would you rate them?

I'd have to think hard about them. They're all pretty solid 8s bare minimum, it just depends on you tolerance for repeating the same thing over and over. I don't play multiplayer either so it's all about the campaign for me.

For me it's all about memorable Halo moments. Since the games are so similar the things I remember are unique setpieces like giant crab climbing in Halo 2, or dismounting a turret in Halo 3 and working your way up that building with many tiered balconies. That bit in Halo reach where you're in this buggy racing along near a beach like area.

I always turned off the music in PC Doom. Sounded to generic. PS1 Doom had fantastic background sound/music.

Aren't they exactly the same?

EDIT: I just heard it, WTF was that. I played the PS1 version I dont remember that crap. Its generic horror movie music.

I have no recollection of Doom music, but I will never forget whilst playing Quake on the PC one time I thought after a little while that the music sounded vaguely familiar ... upon closer listening I realized it was the music from the CD I had in the disk drive at that moment (in fact a 16 horsepower CD) but kind of remixed and doomed up.  It sounded incredibly appropriate and awesome!!

Lots of good shit in the new GI issue, all the E3 stuff.

Giant writeup on Battleborn which sounds great....I guess between this and Borderlands we know why Alien Colonial Marines sucked so bad.

Opted to go for Local anethesia, rather than general. Local would mean much less recovery time and I would get out of the hospital sooner, rather than later. Course that also means I was fully awake and completely aware during the surgery. Before I even went into surgery, I had every, single, last damn female nurse coming over and chatting with me asking me a whole bunch of relevant and some personal questions... a few dudes too. One nurse (female) got very upset because I didn't actually shake her hand upon being introduced and she was the one who was going to be "comforting" me during the operation.

When we finally went it, the whole process took under a half hour. The mass was HUGE and was very easy to extract. The doctor kept on making jokes: "Wow! That thing is huge!" "Look at how big it is!"

Which was followed by the inevitable: "I bet you hear that from the LADIES all the time!" Har-de-har-har...

Now I am face down in a pillow on the table while all this is being said; all I could do is grunt my responses and roll my eyes without them being the wiser. The ladies... uh-huh...  Hrm

All of this culminated in me, at the end of the operation, having to roll off the operating table on to a gurney so I could be rolled back into the Pre-Op room... I was in a robe, on my stomach during the operation; robe is open in the back, as usual. Course when I rolled over, the robe stayed put and my "front" was exposed by the open back. Of course I was wearing boxer briefs... but the Doctor's reaction when I did this was simply: "Oh!" The nurses' eyes "bulged" out of their heads. The jokes stopped that very moment... Tastefully done, doc...

I had a whole bunch of new nurses and a few other people come over to talk to me after I was rolled out...

At this point, I was ready to bolt... but one more flashing incident had to occur, of course... Because I wasn't put completely under, I didn't go to the Recovery Room, I went back to Pre-Op where people wait before their Operations. My clothes were returned to me and I was told I could get dressed. I thought they closed the curtains all the way, but... no, of course not. I drop the robe and stand up in my briefs, only to meet the gaze of a woman diagonally positioned from me and the mid-20's girl who just had a breast reduction done to the right and slightly behind where I was... At that point all modesty and patience were expended and I was just like: "Fuck it... Oh well!" and got dressed to an audience.

Ah the life of beautiful people, its like a whole different world you live in. Every woman in the hospital loves you, doctors want to be you, the hospital has tales of the man with the giant dong like its a legend. I'm so jealous. Nyaa

Nice to see it went smoothly, see wasn't so bad. Just relax now.

I finished all the content in the beta of Destiny here are my impressions.

The Good:

  • The presentation is top notch. Some of the best UI designs I have ever seen. Looks great, runs great.
  • The gameplay is fantastic. It's Halo with super powers and RPG elements.
  • The three classes seem to grow different enough for each to have a certain role but still play like Halo.
  • If you get addicted to games with lots of content, lots of leveling up, lots of collectables then this thing will steal your life.
  • Far greater variety in enemy types and the AI is as great as the best Halo has to offer. I have seen them take cover, use group tactics. One dude saw I had a shotgun and backed up quick.
  • In fighting between enemy species so those big war moments are possible. The vehicles were not really used in the beta so I cant say how big a role they will have.
  • Multiplayer works great, when playing alone people will be scattered doing their own thing or casually helping out, then you enter a certain zone where it becomes just you (or the squad you set up). The fire squad missions where you are required to be in a team are easy to setup and work great.
  • So many well known voice actors, nearly everyone you speak to in the game you are like "I know that voice!"
  • I love the difficulty options, each story mission has multiple difficulties to choice from which will serve as "legendary mode" for this game. Plus it is all so perfectly categorized, it will show logos of the kind of changes the new difficulty brings. I bet there will be custom modes where you could probably turn of revives and who knows what else.

The Bad:

  • The structure is more mission based so you get a map and in that map certain spots become the locations for the missions. This means you will be going over the same locations a few times. The enemies and situations change but you will revist the same locations many times.
  • Story seems to be in the background. Most of the lore is hidden away on the bungie website, not in game. Not one interesting character shown yet.
  • PVP while still great is definetly not up to Halo standards. Now this is just the beta and one kind of PVP mode, territories. It just feels slightly more stiff and waiting for your powers and grenades to kick in messes up the flow.
  • The "explore" mission where you basically get to freely roam the map and do mini missions is not that well done. I dont get the point of it, there is no set goal, you just meander around, maybe a community event occurs but it seems rare. You get small rewards for the mini missions but the feel so generic. This needed to be fleshed out more.
  • Load times are pretty bad.

I think you might have accidentally wandered onto the set of a pornographic film set in a hospital, and not an actual hospital?
