They're screwing it all up for me at the moment.

Giving free copies to podcasters seeme to work out pretty well (see drunkengamersraio and playeronepodcast fer instance).

That Wired article on Sonic is a good read. The writer did a pretty accurate analysis of Sega forgetting that it was the level design that made early Sonic games fun, not just the speed.  In fact going really fast for long periods of time was only something that the good players could do, but not it's pretty standard.  Anyway here's to hoping Sonic 4 will be good.  THis article makes me a little less confident though.
