YAY! Koopalings (aka the Koopa Kids) are in Super Mario 3DS!
There's no mouse! No self-respecting PC gamer would EVER use that controller, lol.
BTW, that would have been awsome for playing Animal Crossing on GCN.
Apparently, Skyward Sword has a Dark World mechanic where you go the the Land of Siren.
Retro should be working on a new Wave Race instead.
Zelda has a Puzzle within a Puzzle, Dungeon in a Dungeon design with many new things to do when you return to already explored areas.
About Skyward Sword, Miyamoto says: ""a game you can play for a very long time. Understanding the map is going to make the game very interesting to play."
Miyamoto is holding back the "real" name for Super Mario 3DS for some reason...
Could be Super Mario Tales (or Tails)...
Koizumi said the Galaxy games made him think about what Mario games are all about. Wants to create the most Mario-like 3D game possible.
Top-down Zelda-like dungeon stages in Super Mario 3DS.
___________
Miyamoto: "Why leave Pikmin aside and do Luigi's Mansion 2, you might wonder?"
but he says the discussion of Pikmin is prohibited today
"the reason we made this is because I wanted to"
Says that the first 3DS experiments were with the GameCube version of Luigi's Mansion
(he's previously revealed that the GCN game was prototyped in 3D)
Luigi's Mansion will be full of secrets.
Developed by Next Level Games (Punch Out, Mario Strikers)...
...but Miyamoto is over-seeing and is responsible.
Aonumo: "As Skyward celebrates 25 years of Zelda, he'd like to make it a title that could stand as a fitting swan song for the Wii, if that's what it ended up being."
Miyamoto says he told aonuma that if next skyward sword wasn't best Zelda then no more Zelda!
He jokes that he said if he can't convince people Star Fox is a fun game to play with Star Fox 3D, this will be the last one. So they're working VERY hard on it.
Pikmin Wii canceled!
Miyamoto wants to say thank you for not asking about pikmin
But pikmin is 10 years old this year
He wanted to release pikmin this year
They were working on a wii pikmin
But as they work on wii u and he sees those beautiful hd graphics and new controller
I think that's the perfect system for pikmin. So we're going to make it for that
He says that since the wii version was far along it shouldn't be a long wait for it on wii u!
So far, the Wii U doesn't look bad, but I don't see where it adds much more than my 360 gamepad. The most of the gameplay demos looked very odd to me. I'm sure it'll work nicely for displaying maps, inventory, option menus, but that's about all I'd see myself using it for. I'm not putting it on the floor to play golf, and I sure as hell will NOT be connecting it to a Wii Zapper!
At this point, it'll be all about the games as to whether or not I'll buy one someday.
I'm actually becoming a lot more interested in the 3DS. With games like Luigi's Mansion 2, Paper Mario, Super Mario, Mario Kart, it's starting to look good to me. I'd rather play all of those games on my HDTV, but what can ya do?
I thought he said graphics didn't matter?
I would rather have pointer controlled Pikmin. It better fully support the wiimotes. If I'm actually playing it without a TV then it will be ok to use the touch on the new controller, but when using a big screen I don't want touchpad controls that I never look at, like a laptop, or the need to look at the controller instead of the TV...
In fact, that's what I'd want for many games on Wii U (if I ever get one). The touch & traditional controls as an alternative to pointer controls when wanting to play it semi-portable or when in the mood to go VR mode for games that work in that manner. Otherwise gameplay will just be downgraded. I mean, a successor to Skyward Sword without keeping and improving on the motion controls? A FPS by Retro without pointing?
No, just no thank you. Hauling the whole screen controller around in reverse AR mode will be cool for some things (Fatal Frame VR anyone? Endless Ocean 3 photography? Etc.) but not for all such experiences, while just reverting back to dual analog style controls is a leap back for many things.
It's bad enough we aren't getting a Wiimote Plus 2.0 with better tracking, better ergonomics, and better button availability and placement, but I suppose it could come later.
The optimist proclaims we live in the best of all possible worlds
while the pessimist fears this is true.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So he wants to thank people for not asking about pikmin? Who here hasn't been asking about pikmin? (Fair enough, some people were asking "What is pikmin?" - but hey!). I feel let down in a major way by the fact that I was led to believe there was a Pikmin 3 soon (3 years ago) to be released on the Wii, and then ignored and not even mention hoping people would forget. Boohoo
