Is the 3DS a failed platform at this point?

Let me explain that provocative subline for a moment. What I mean, is that 3rd parties are delaying or cancelling or putting on hold 3DS game projects because 3DS sales haven't taken off like DS did. Sega have this Crush game already finished but are sitting on it because they say 3DS sales are too low.

This is a mistake, assuming of course the game is any good. If the game is released now it'll get picked up due to weak library. 3DS owners just want something to play on the system, and while there aren't tons of them out there the system has probably sold around 3.5 million units worldwide at this point.  If they wait later they'll have more 1st party games to compete with. Given the choice between Mario Kart, Kid Icarus, Zelda, etc., who will pick Crush over those?

Now if the game sucks, sure they might as well wait until there are more suckers out there who can't figure out what's good or not.
