Driveclub.
Whaa? How can you even ask? These must be mine!
Played about 10 races on MK8 online last night, Supreme came on. Didn't have my glasses. I was doing allright at first, considering my points compared to others I was placing about where I should have, 5th-ish. Then I ran into some abysmal luck and rage quit on one race when I got hit like 5 times in a row.
One thing that is bothering me is that I can be behind someone not even that far behind, and even with 3 mushrooms I can't overtake them? Fucks sake. And invincibility doesn't seem to boost your speed if you're in the air at all so it can be wasted.
Yeah, I saw you disappear after coming in last. I came in last 2 races before on Bowser's Castle, a course I normally excel in
Instead of giving me some good items to catch up, I kept getting unlimited boosts, which only hindered me more as I kept ricocheting off the track when boosting. But hey, I managed to get first on my first race, and averaged in 2nd and third, I ain't complaining.
What I will complain over again is how the point system is broken, as it rewards repeated play instead of actual skill.

Kotaku Update Their Wii U Review to a 'Yes' "It's time. If you don't have a Wii U, it's time to get one"
It's not just changing the verdict, it's a complete re-review and quite eye opening. Seems the site has had a complete turnaround on the console and are almost wholly positive on it.
Unlimited boosts are useless on Rainbow road. One thing that bothers me is that when someone falls off the track, usually bad drivers, they aren't penalised enough, they are back on the track a couple of seconds later. When I'm playing online, through great driving I worked my way up to 3rd from 11th through hard work and perseverance, not using some super item. Then right near the finish line I get clocked with a green shell and end up in 10th.
I'm getting real tired of boosting into people holding bananas or green shells behind them, they should use them or lose them.
And I was really, really good online with Mario Kart Wii too. I think this game rewards average players too much so racing lines and discipline mean nothing. The tracks aren't hard enough, the penalties aren't hard enough and there are far too many items being flung around, really - 3 green shells? 3 Bananas?
Racing lines do make a difference, it's how I float to the top (when I do). The items are mostly the same as those in MKwii. Biggest difference is that you can't hold on to a second weapon while dragging one behind you. This should make for less weapons on the track though. Then again, stuff like the fireballs and the boomerang give you multiple projectiles per weapon... I agree that (most) tracks are too forgiving though, and the penalty for falling off the track is indeed very small. I wouldn't be surprised if you'd actually gain from being hit with a weopon just as you take to the air and being rescued by a Lakitu, as opposed to flying the distance as intended.
Getting hit straight before the finish line and losing multiple places is part of the game really. It's happened to me as well. I recall you speeding past me within sight of the finish line as I got pelted with some weapon as well
That wasn't me. I never attack my VGPress brothers.
On the items, there are just far too many good items, being given far too often, to far too many people. It feels like a spamfest.
I'm not implying you fired it, I'm just saying stuff like that happens all the time.
This was also the case in MKwii. I don't think it's that much of an issue really. I haven't seen a lot of bullet bills for one, and while some weapons can be a pain in the arse, you're just as likely to get them yourself, unless you're in first place.
No I find it very different, triple shells, triple bananas and triple mushrooms galore. Add in Boomerangs and Fire flowers + Bullet Bills and invincibility and it's chaos. The one thing that bothers me is when I race and I don't do anything wrong, I don't make mistakes, I don't miss turns, then I get pummelled relentlessly by items one after the other after the other. I'm left at the end of the race thinking: what did I do wrong to warrant this? I haven't done anything wrong at all and still I end up here? That's when the game becomes not fun to play.
Also the blue shell situation is ridiculous. You can be at no 1 and a blue shell is coming, then you can be hit or slow and go into 3rd place. Instead of the blue shell going on to the no 1 player, it still hits you even when you're in 3rd or 4th. FFS
Good, because I was kidding
The Sun claims gaming is 'as addictive as heroin' Brings new meaning to the phrase: Shoot em up
Anything can be addictive....in fact if you think about it, everyone is basically addicted to SOMETHING. Humans have addictive personalities.
People get addicted to work, music, sports, drugs, liquor, sex, TV, games, shopping, food.....etc.
Some things are just more accepted to be addicted to than others.
I think when they first announced Destiny they actually did say there would be a Wii U version...then like so many other games it obviously got canned.
