It seems as if NIntendo has adopted their strategy from the late 80's and early 90's again with regards to their products. By calling things "Collector's Items" or artificially limiting their quantities, they create a bigger demand. Problem with this is, it keeps GAMES out of the hands of GAMERS and puts them on the shelves of "collectors" where they will remain untouched and unplayed, waiting for their "value" to go up.
Thanks, Obama Amiibos.
Case in point: When they announced Fire Emblem Fates: SE... I noticed on a feed I was watching, the comments all were about the collector's case that comes with it and the artbook. There was more excitement about the collectibles, more so than about the GAME itself. People were saying how they were going to have to preorder on Amazon immediately... Sure enough, upon going to Amazon, it was "Unavailable" in seconds. I merely wanted it because that's the ONLY place you can get both games and the DLC on ONE GAME CARD. I knew I was going to be playing all sides of the story, I knew I was going to probably have to buy all the cards and the DLC, so I was hoping to be able to buy this version. I added my email to the list to be notified if they ever get any more available for pre-order; never heard a thing.
One day, I was randomly on GameStop.Com and noticed there were some Special Editions available, so I immediately jumped on it. I was able to preorder, but I don't like mail ordering things if I can avoid it. I went to my local GS a few hours later and asked about putting a deposit down there so I could cancel the pre-order and pick it up at the store. The look the manager gave me, with the eye-roll that followed... The "collectors" had been hounding him since the package was announced and they are NOT taking anymore pre-orders in the stores AT ALL.
HATE the behaviors of "collectors" and the enabling tactics Nintendo uses to create and feed the frenzy...
Actually the Amiibos are no longer difficult to find. They're fucking everywhere. Every GameSpot, Target, and Toys R Us I've been to in the past few weeks is flush with them. And not just a handful of characters. Large varieties and characters that had been hard to find. Shulk, the NES classics line-up, Squid kids, etc.
And despite having 3 I still don't get what they're for.

Why are the Animal Crossing Amiibo £15 on amazon when other amiibos are £10.99? Fucking price gourging.
Well, been playing Just Cause 3 on PS4 for the last hour. Load times are no worse than Witcher 3's. Substantially shorter, actually, and I haven't seen a single hitch or framerate drop whatsoever. No crashes, no disconnects and attempts to re-connect to Square Enix' servers, no interruptions in game play at all. Seems as if NeoGaf and the gaming news sites got their collective grandma-panties in a bunch again over absolutely nothing. AGAIN. I fucking ---HATE--- drama queens.
Ew. Just ew. This looks nothing like what I would imagine. This looks like a reject elf from the Witcher series or a gay vulcan from Gears of War that swapped his machine gun for a sword and shield. I mean what's up with the greezy looking curly hair too?!
On the subject of Just Cause: People were complaining about the Square Enix servers and connection troubles up to a week before the game was supposed to be sold. THE SERVERS WEREN'T ACTIVE YET. That's why it was endlessly searching for a connection. I'm sure that effected load times --and-- probably had something to do with slow-down too.
You hear a bunch of spoiled brats complaining about things like that without justification...
...but does anyone go back to where they were complaining in the first place to post that these issues were incorrect or fixed? Nope. DQ's love their drama!
I've been intentionally causing HUGE explosions and wildly spinning the view around during said explosions, and there's not been a single frame drop for me yet.
Anyone with a PS4 that has nothing else to do (although I fail to see how that's possible this year) should give Just Cause a try. It's not the most groundbreaking game.**Actually, scratch that, you pretty much break everything in this game...**
It may not be the most original game of all, but for what it is, it's RIDICULOUSLY fun! The tether, the wingsuit, the parachute and the explosions... traversing the island alone is a joy. It's the Michael Bay version of a 2015 open-world game, and just like his movies, there's always time for a little dumb fun!
Doesn't hurt that it can be absolutely gorgeous at times too!
Next to RPG's, SHMUPS were my favorite style of game into and through the 90's. Gradius, LifeForce, Thunder Force, Lightening Force, Gaiares, Legendary Wings, Xanac, Space Megaforce, U.N. Squadron... the list goes on and on...
I am sooo psyched they are releasing Dariusburst. I don't particularly care that it's the price of a retail game. It was SUPPOSED to be out today --BUT-- for some reason, rather than the usual Tuesday release, it was put on the store yesterday for Vita...
I heard some good things about Mad Max but I also heard it gets repetitive quickly and apparently the wasteland doesn't have much diversity so it isn't that interesting.
I need some Christmas recommendations...for me! Who has played these games and what do you think of them?
Star Wars Battlefront ( I played the demo. Is there a lot more to it?)
Mad Max
Dying Light
Until Dawn
Destiny-(I'll probably gift this to myself since its $20. I've played it before so I know what to expect on this one.
Without a doubt Dying Light. Best of the bunch! You'll get dozens and dozens of hours out of it and it's a BLAST to play. The expansion is coming soon too and it's gonna be HUGE and very substantial!
Until Dawn after that. Cheesy horror flick mentality, but the game plays very well...
Mad Max... might as well get Just Cause... it's more fun and basically the same genre of game.
Destiny --ONLY-- get if you have three more people you know to play it with.
Anyone know how to edit title name, artist name, album name for music tracks on Windows Phone?
I found the only way to do it is to copy the track across to PC, use WMP to right click edit the titles. Then copy the track back to phone. But while the phone recognises the new track name, the artist and album names remain the same. It's fricking annoying when you have the same artist listed twice because the CD or MP3 has spelt the name slightly differently like Sammy Davis Jr vs Sammy Davis, Jr.

I've never felt an urge to collect anything. I haven't even bought an Amiibo yet.
And despite having 3 I still don't get what they're for.
I just heard this 80s Madonna song for the first time

I'm definitely picking up Paper Jam sometime soon. My 3DS has been a brick all year long.

I thought Martin Freeman was done with fantasy movies.
Xbox One owners should hold off for a little while. It seems to have some legitimate issues. PC users with a good rig, feel free to jump right in!
Reaction has been almost entirely negative where ever I've seen this picture posted. A LOT of funny responses though!
**I would hope his Master Sword would need a slightly larger censor box though!**
