So now I own a decent selection of Switch 2 games, I've reached the point where everything looks great.

It doesn't matter if it's a port that was originally released on ps4 or a high end game that only exists on current gen - they all look great.

Sure there are differences between them, some have better geometry, so have better textures or character models.

But it doesn't really matter when in general it all looks great to me.

It's an unusual, but also inevitable conclusion to ever improving hardware.

I can see now why PS4 gamers were generally happy with visuals and not hugely blown away by even better visuals now.

Yep, the PS5 generation is the first time I was not wowed by the improvements made.

PS6 is coming in two short years and the graphicsl improvements will be legendary! Just look at the massive improvements PS5 Pro brought us! When you zoom into the far, far background, the details are a bit sharper, right? Now double that distance and triple that sharpness and we have the mighty PS6! Nyaa

Hitmam Absolution was just released on switch 1 and its a PS3 game?

Although it obviously looks worse than current Hitman it still looks decent to me.

Yeah graphics will get a lot better, but modern games are at such a level that I honestly wouldn't care if they never got better from what they are now.

If switch 2 had a better cpu to run more games at 60fps, that's where I'd be right now.

Speaking of a 60fps switch 2 game, I've been playing more Yakuza Kiwami.

As I suspected it does have Shenmue level jank

Not in a bad way but it does feel very Japanese and old school in a number of ways. The invisible walls and fixed camera angles are annoying.

I like open world games and being able to explore a modern Japanese downtown district is highly compelling to me. But you can only enter very few shops. You often ca t walk down alleyways, cant open doors, cant walk up and down stairs they don't want you too.

The stuff you buy in the shops is all random Japanese foods and its not always clear what they do.

The combat is okay but now Im out of prison I lost all my skills and have to upgrade a skill tree and start from the bottom.

Combat is not brilliant, mostly because you can be pointing yourself at a character to attack and Kiryu will attack open air instead without you being able to cancel his animation.

I like the story, but everything boils down to fight, fight and fight again. Can get a bit tedious.

Still a fun game, just feels like it could offer the player more freedom, more detailed exploration and more responsive combat.

This weekend was all about Atari 5200 Galaxian, Pacman and Missile Command.

I also played a fair bit of SMS Sonic 1 and NES Ninja Gaiden 1.

Started the Octopath Traveler 0 demo and looked at the clock and I'm 1 and a half hours in.

Damn, another one I need to buy. Not sure if I like the silent protagonist. Everything else is in line with other games so you can just start playing without reading tutorials.

There's a sale on Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 bundle if anyone's interested. Savage discounts.

Played Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 this weekend. Beat the campaign. It was short, only about 7 hours give or take, but I quite enjoyed it. It’s a campaign that you can play co-op with three other people. I played through with online randoms. Went fairly smoothly all things considered. Played some online multiplayer. So far just played the skirmish mode that has two 20 player teams face each other. It’s definitely chaotic but I really enjoy big team battles.

I mainly played/streamed Cuphead this weekend. And I actually hit a milestone while streaming it - first time I've ever had over 100 a hundred concurrent viewers. It didn't last long, but it was cool to actually hit that.

Valve classifies the Steam Machine as more powerful than 70 percent of gaming PCs

11/17/25 -

Valve classifies the performance of the Steam Machine as comparable to and in many cases even higher than 70 percent of the PCs surveyed in the Steam Hardware Survey.

Hardware Engineer Yazan Aldehayyat explains that the device should offer enough computing power to make the existing game catalog usable without restrictions.

At the same time, Valve is aiming for an entry-level model that reaches a wide range of buyers through a lower price. The performance level of typical home computers serves as a technical reference point. The Steam Machine uses a commercially available chip, whose firmware and software have been adapted for SteamOS. According to previous information, the performance ranges between Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5, with the RAM of 8 GB of VRAM being considered a limiting factor. Release: Early 2026 (Europe)

Wait, 8gb RAM? Is this correct?

They're selling the trilogy both boxed and digital for £16 here.

Like $20? The Arkham Knight port looks so bad though.
