Pretty decent direct. Would have loved a first party game tease like Mario or Zelda, even if they are a ways off. Motorbikes in Metroid may be cool but it gives me Arkham Knight vibes and I don't really care for that gameplay.
If the Resident Evil games weren't shown, that Direct was a bit of a wash out for me. Some decent stuff but at this point I feel like Kirby, Yoshi, Tomadachi and non mainline Pokemon games should just be segregated into their own directs so I don't have to suffer through them.
Fire Emblem at first I thought was the new Monolithsoft game, then I saw the gameplay and graphics, meh.
Switch 2 performance and graphics are looking better, Hyrule Age of Imprisonment was very smooth and tons of stuff going on. Same as the new Dynasty Wars.
Dragon Quest 7 looked good. Seems like S-E is finally moving away from or evolving the 2DHD engine that they've been using for all of their remakes for the past several years.
However, it's one of the bottom games in the series. It's just too goddamn long for its own good. I'm going to guess they're using the 3DS version, which sped up the gameplay but I think it's still required about 100-hour investment.

Wasn’t Dragon Quest 7 already 3D and that’s why they went this route? I think they’ll still use the 2DHD style if they remake 4, 5, and 6.
DQ7 was kind of 3-D. Character models were 2D, put into a polygon world - towns and dungeons, but not the overworld. Thing is, DQ 4 - 6 all got remade using that same engine. That's how the DS and mobile ports were made.
DQ7 did get the 3DS remake though, and I think that went a little more full 3D for the whole game. Not sure though, as I never played it. I got the impression though that they made it as similar to the 3DS version of Dragon Quest 8.
And at the end of the day, that's really the question we should be asking. Why the hell are they screwing around with 7? Just give us 8 already.

Ah, ok. Interesting.
Yeah, for sure. Absolutely loved 8, fantastic game. Definitely want a remake of that one.
The direct could have been better. Yoshi is whatever, haven't bought one of his games in forever. Metroid with a bike not what I expected. Also they seem to not care to hype it up, just dropped in the middle like a whatever trailer. Metroid needs tight design not big empty worlds.
FE is cool. DQ7 remake is sweet.
$40 for an old Galaxy game is just stupid.
RE for switch 2 is nice for those that want it portable. It looked really rough, I'm sticking to PC.
One of the most interesting things b
about the direct was hair for me.
I'm very interested in seeing how various games cope with hair models, particularly regarding upscaling.
FF7 seems to have resolved the dithered hair from earlier trailers, assuming what they showed was switch 2 footage.
RE Requiem has a lot of hair artifacts that needs sorting.
There's barely any hair artifacts in Hogwarts Legacy probably because the detailed hair models don't swish about.
The hair in Cyberpunk is fine only really noticeable on one bad side character.
Meanwhile hair on SW OUTLAWS is terrible, only for the main character it seems. But since you're looking at the environments its not something that will annoy you constantly.
I wish they would tailor the hair model around upscaling, have simpler models with less artifacts. At least give us the option. Or, how about a hat?
Really good Direct. I very much liked:
It boggles my mind that this wasn't released on 3DS.

That Virtual Boy accessory is crazy. Definitely didn’t expect that in a million years.
Especially a $100 accessory.

There’s also a cardboard version for $25.
3ds screens are 420 x 240p for the top screen.
If switch 2 has a 1080p screen can it replicate 3DS games using whatever device/lenses they're selling?

I wish Nintwndo would've made a real 3-D All stars 2 with Galaxy 2 and Mario 3D Land. Maybe they are saving that one for the inevitable 3DS app.

You can preorder Prime 4 now. The Switch 2 version is $69.99.

Has anyone been playing Silksong on OG switch? Is it too much of a downgrade?
I have an interest in the game because I loved Hollow Knight, but I don't want to buy new hardware at this stage.
