But who is their demographic? I'd argue that there are 2 kinds of PC gamers: the hardcore who care about pixels, shaders and frames per second who are sufficiently tech savvy to create their own bespoke streaming solution to stream their PC powerhouse to their tv, and on the other end the casual gamers who game on PC because that's what they already own for study or work and they don't see the point in buying an expensive box to put under their telly. Is there really enough middle ground for this to be succesfull?
At least with the SteamDeck there was a unique selling point. It's a Switch for PC gamers! The Gabecube doesn't have anything that comes close to that as a selling point. Unless it's priced very competitively, which I doubt as Valve won't want to take a hit with every unit sold and they won't be able to get as good a deal on parts as Sony and MS.

Valve believes there's a market for it there. I'm no market analyst; I just think they making a cool product That I believe a lot of people will enjoy. People upgrade their computers every so often. Steam machine gives them another hardware option That may be more user friendly.
Valve makes 30% on every dollar spent on Steam games, so They don't need to sell 100 million steam machines to be successful.
Well if they price the Steam Machine right then Valve will definitely have me on board. I’ll use it for some PC centric games like RTS games, maybe some sims, and probably some other games that I have on consoles but want to get the PC version for mods and what not.

I see, that article I read and posted is misleading.
Steam Machine seems cool in that I like the idea that PC games you own can be transferred to future PCs or machines to play years from now.
Making it more living room friendly is also cool, but thats why I own consoles. Steamdeck is more appealing to me on the surface, but I'm entrenched with my Switch library.

I'm kind of in the same boat. I'm in no position right now to buy a new game machine but if the price were right, I'm certainly interested.
I'd settle for GTAV visuals to have a mobile gta6 game.
