I came across a really random thing in the PlayStation store today, and for some stupid reason it's still been on my mind several days later. So I figure if I share I might get it out of my system.

While looking at the games that were on sale I saw Felix the Cat. If anyone is not aware, Felix was a cartoon character that was originally created about a hundred years ago. And over the past century, he's shown up in theatrical shorts and on television in various forms. His heyday was probably in the twenties or thirties, but He's never entirely faded away and every couple decades someone gets a hold of the IP and tries to reintroduce the character. The last time this happened that I'm aware of was in the '90s. That brings me back to Felix the Cat, the video game.

Apparently there were some efforts to bring him back, but they were met with a lot of stuttering and false starts. In 1992, a late era NES game was released for Felix, which I believe was supposed to have been paired with an upcoming cartoon. However, the cartoon didn't come to fruition for several more years. It got decent reviews, but between the lack of presence the character had, and the game coming out at a point where most people were moving on to the super Nintendo, the Felix The Cat video game was largely ignored. Interestingly, it does fetch a pretty nice price on the collector's market today.

For reasons, I'm not entirely sure about, limited run games, decided they needed to remaster the NES game, and so about a year ago they made it available for the switch, PS4, and probably any other system out there. They also included the Game Boy version of it, and as you do with most older games, they include a few quality of life features like rewind.

They also wanted $25 for it. $25 for a single remastered NES game and Game Boy game, which is in fact pretty much the identical game, just without a color palette. Who the hell thinks they're going to get $25 for in a Nes game these days? Limited run games has a tendency to overcharge for their physical releases, which I can't blame them for since there can't be a huge profit margin for what they do, but for a digital release? $25? What the hell are they smoking?

Good news, all the P switch icons are on the map now in Mario Kart World. It does show which ones you've done vs those you haven't.

You can also immediately warp to any P switch to do the challenge.

Felix the Cat NES game seems to be fairly popular with some speed runners. Arcus on Twitch and YT has done a number of speed runs on it.

Interesting. I wonder if more people are playing it today than when it was originally released.

I never knew about it back in the day, but I've seen it come up occasionally in hidden gems lists and Let's Plays over the last 10 years or so. I'm sure YT and forums have helped to increase its popularity like Little Samson.

Edit: typos.

I'm rubbish at wall riding.

Wish there was a normal jump button instead of a charge jump.

Also, need a button to deploy glide mode at any time. Would be epic.

Yeah, not too good at that myself either. Really need to get better at it.

Can anything be done about Switch online retro games frames and backgrounds?

I can't play a lot of the games because of the dotted effect sidecars and button prompt bar permanently stuck at the bottom of the screen.

The button prompts can be disabled in each NSO retro app. Sidebars can't be disabled, though, unfortunately.

Yeah, wish you do something about those sidebars. Hoping they’ll maybe allow for that in some future update but not going to hold my breath on it.

Hitman World of Assassination is coming today. It was like 45% off as a GKC.

Nintendo plans to strengthen their game development capabilities by expanding facilities and acquiring other developers as subsidiaries

https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2025/251105e.pdf

Which developers should they buy? I say Saber Interactive, very prolific developer and versatile with different genres. Also great at porting games.

So Nintendo has sold over ten million Switch 2 consoles since launch. Could it reach 15 million by the end of the year?

Watching Aliens for the first time.  The makers of Halo, Half Life and Metroid should each send a $1 billion check to the writers and director of this franchise. Valve, MS and Nintendo wanto to bitch about piracy?

Fuck off you filthy disgusting intellectual proeprty thieves. You are no better than people making rip off Gucchi bags.

I'd buy a decent Aliens fps.
