Joystiq:
"Guess what, film and music industries? You guys got taken to school in the UK's Top 40 entertainment product rankings, as compiled by trade organization Entertainment Retailers Association. According to the chart, the number one entertainment property in the UK was neither a blockbuster film like Avatar, nor a chart-topping album like Take That's Progress, but rather Call of Duty: Black Ops, which sold over 3.2 million units in the territory last year. Booyah.
Two other games, FIFA 11 and Just Dance, made it into the Top 10 -- however, only nine spots on the entire Top 40 chart were occupied by games. We're not sure what that says about the country's media consumption habits, but we are sure that Red Dead Redemption got beaten out by Now That's What I Call Music 77, and that fills our heart with a dull, constant ache."
So whatever makes it into the top 10 is crap regardless of medium?
Killzone 3 review complete. Over 3,500 words long. AW YEAH.

I decided to get LP2 again and actually finish it. I wish it was more like Monster Hunter, it's a bit shallow and weird as it is. Great graphics though, and there are some pretty sweet moments.

In short it’s a must have for all RPG fans."
Hey Aspro... Can you click on the 'Prettiest Platformer' news story link above and tell me if it works?
Yep it worked. First time I've been to Kotaku since they changed format -- what the hell have they done over there? I had to turn off my script blocker like 8 times to get anything other than the logo to show up.
But still, yes, that direct link worked.
Thanks!
"Two classic ABC soap operas will soon meet their demise: "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" will air their final episodes in September 2011 and January 2012, respectively, leaving only "General Hospital" to survive them. No word yet on whether they'll rise from the dead, like "One Life to Live"'s Elijah Clarke, after being snuffed out."
Is the Bulletstorm soundtrack any good? Worth the 124 MB DL?
Not at all. Soap operas as a matter of fact have been getting cut left and right over the past couple years. There's only like 6 left on tv right now, and by next year probably just 4. The audience that watched them for so long has pretty much died.
^I had no idea! Here in Australia our soap operas are on at night (either just before or just after the nightly news) -- like the telenovelas on Univision. One of the channels here started showing re-runs from 20 years ago of certain soap operas when I was a kid -- I almost fell into watchign it again.
There is a lot of overlap between wreslting and soap operas, I have noticed from afar.
Yakuza is very soap-opera-y.
EDIT: So the 4 would be Y&R, DoOL, General Hospital and B&B?
This isn't interesting to anyone but me probably, but I've followed Planet Moon for years now, so since their slowly evolving (but no yet complete) demise it's nice to see one of the core people being hired. Even if it is to make casual games:
"Electronic Arts-owned social game developer Playfish (Pet Society) announced its hiring of Aaron Loeb, previously the chief executive at Planet Moon Studios, as the new general manager of its San Francisco branch. Loeb has nearly 10 years of experience working in the games industry at Planet Moon, joining the developer in 2001 as a producer, then rising up the ranks to COO and eventually CEO."
Whenever I contacted them they were always nice (and the e-mail was always from one of the executives or developers).
They made Citizens Giant Kabuto, Armed and Dangerous, INFECTED, Battle of the Bands (Still worth getting) and the Drawn to Life Wii game.
$8.19 at amazon:
Yeah the Soap Opera scene is pretty much fallen apart. I read a very interesting article about how day-time TV barely resembles what it was 20 years ago. Game shows and soaps once were the regular programming, but they're both nearly gone. Soaps died out mainly due to women working in the 80's and 90's, and the only audience left was the group of housewives that had been watching from the 70's and earlier. And now that age group is fading away. Kind of sad in a way. Even the Soap Opera channel is going to call it quits soon.
As far as the remaining shows honestly I don't know what's left or what will be left. I can't honestly say I ever watched them. To me, once they started that';s when I'd go play outside (right after the Price Is Right). Still it's strange to see an entrire genre right on the brink of extinction.
