Go into the zelda thread, there is a hands on video and impressions from a dude there on how comfortable it is. Remember that the controller just streams the signal from the Wii U unit so its probably a lot lighter and more comfortable than it looks.
That's how I feel about Vita, nothing special and different gaming wise.
Okay, this is the last post I will make on it, because I've just been a hater all morning. After this, I'll shut up on this topic FOREVER. I promise.
There is no way I will ever buy a Wii U, which will make it the first console I have not bought (other than the 3DS, which I still hope to).
The hardware is just aping the other consoles, and while I have achievements and trophies going on the other systems why would I choose to play with an unconventional controller when there are two other systems that have regular controls?
The controller is a complete abomination for playing regular games. 10.5 inches with the sticks on the very top corners? I don't understand a single positive thing about it. I don't play stylus only games on my DS for a reason -- it's a pain in the ass to both hold a controller and use a stylus at the same time. This is why Windows tablets over the years have failed where Apple found success (stylus versus multitouch).
That's it. I'll shut up now.
Yeah I still have not made any decisions about what I'm buying or not yet. I still have great hardware I love and am totally satisfied with, I don't see that changing at least this year, I still love my PSP it's more that enough handheld wise to to keep me happy. PS3, 360, Wii are really more than enough to keep me happy gaming wise including my PC. So yeah no need to take a stand now.
Giant Bomb posted their impressions of the Zelda HD game - http://www.giantbomb.com/news/seeing-playing-sort-of-zelda-in-high-definition/3345/
There's really not much in the way of play control or anything about the game, but there is one interesting observation they make about transitioning the screen from the TV to the uPad - "
The demo itself did not involve controlling Link and battling the towering spider, but it was a real-time, camera-adjustable demo that allowed seamless transition from viewing the game on a TV to the controller. In a very Apple-like fashion, it just works. Period. No pause, no jittering—the screen just moves places, as though that was a great thing games have been doing forever."
One more thing...
To share the hate around, the Vita has given me no reasons to buy it either. Being the same price as the 3DS gives me great pause in getting a 3DS (my choices now appear to be a weak PS3 versus a weak Wii -- with 3D ack! -- for the same price).
The 3DS seems more likely to bring me DS type games, which appeal to me more on a portable than just playing watered down PS3 games.
The decision on this one will likely come a year from now when both systems have a library I can judge.
To me Sony still wins the circus this year because of one thing : GAMES it had the most games I wanted to own. Vita is more my thing than 3DS I love the PS3 style games on a handheld I love my PSP this is the extension of that. Plus the touch screens on Vita seemed well planned out and seemed to work well. I guess I will wait and see what happens I don't think I can afford to buy either new hardware at launch hell I can barely afford any games now.
T3 on the Wii U bird tech demo:
"The first tech demo we saw was of a bird flying around a large colonial Japanese garden, and it was stunning. The controller tilted the camera in real time, proving that what was on screen was in fact in-game footage, and as rain fell on the garden it soaked the bird’s plumage and reflected in its beady eye. While it was all undoubtedly very pretty, it was hard to tell exactly how powerful the machine is because even the most demanding tech demo still had that Nintendo ‘cartooniness’ about it. We’d have loved to have seen something like CoD running, just to see how real the ‘New Console’ could make things. That said, initial impressions were that it’s a hugely powerful console with bundles of potential."
Okay I am done updating for today.
Just a little nugget from the Darksiders 2 wii interview
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/06/07/could-project-caf-233-be-the-best-platform-for-darksiders-ii.aspx
So it does appear that he's confirming the hardware is more powerful than 360 and PS3 like the rumours said all the way up to E3. While I'm not really interested in Darksiders 2, late versions of these 3rd party games launching on Wii 2 could include all the DLC on disc and be like GOTY special editions plus have all the controller tech and probably run a lot better because of the increased power.
Jeremy Parish here from 1up talking about how comfortable the Wii U controller is, how good the screen looks etc. And Zelda
Bodycount trailer is niiiiiice. It helps that I am playing Black on the Xbox at the moment.
BTW I really reccomend checking out pics of this new Vita game from the Siren devs.
^ If you are not watching those in 3D you fail. Its INCREDIBLE. Especially Mario.
Nintendo E3 sites NA release list has NO Last Story or Xenoblade.
The Dreamcast controller was the only pad that really hurt my hands after a long session. Any game where you had to use the triggers alot...they just didn't design them to be comfortable to rest your fingers on. But it was still playable. I can't see this controller being any worse.
Personally I'm fucking stoked....love what I'm seeing.
Watch the new Sonic trailer like this.
