I just woke up and saw the Wii U controller. Looks like I've got some reading to do.
I will just say 1 thing is anyone really gonna hold that monstrosity for hours at a time? Good luck playing real hardcore games with that thing for any length of time without major pain. Nintendo's going into the carpel tunnel surgery game?
It's not much bigger than a PSP really. I don't think the size wil necessarily be a problem.
Also after seeing that, Kinect seems like a good idea not holding anything really appeals to me if they could find a decent way to apply it. Because its not that I don't like Kinect, it's the crappy software.
As you can see, I got my internet connection back up.
14 pics of the Halo remake in one click
I find that hard to believe, the original PSP was hard to hold without resting it on something after a short time especially laying bed. That thing is at least twice the size of of the 1st PSP.
Though I will reserve judgement until I seetry it in person. I'm not really liking what I have seen so far, seeing the thing from behind in the pic above it looks pretty big.
It's much bigger than a PSP. PSP is only 6.7 inches wide, the U controller is over 10.5 inches wide.
The size won't be a problem for me, I won't be buying this thing.
I'm not going to say I won't buy it, but at this point PSP Vita and games is looking very tasty. I just don't see what the Wii U brings that is that special and different games wise. I already have all the games they offer available on my owned consoles without spending the $500 this thing is going to cost, games wise its not much of an upgrade. Plus that controller ....It is a nice upgrade to Wii to PS3 and 360? Not so much.
Okay so I'm off base. Just didn't look much bigger than the Vita demos I saw. Honestly I'm not too worried. Ultimately we always find new ways to hold controllers and we'll find a way to adapt here too I'm sure.
Wait till you get to my age sonny
I'm among those that actually dug the N64 controller.
Geek, I'm not doing updates until you go to sleep, so we don't have dupes etc...
I liked the N64 controller too. It felt like the first controller for adult sized hands. Only controller I ever had issues with was the Dreamcast controller, but I've always heard plenty of people talk it up how great that was.
I don't entirely know what to think of the U controller. Right around the size of a tablet. Definitely a couch controller. I certainly wouldn't hold it up to the screen like they showed in the Wii baseball for long periods of time. Time will tell I suppose.
The thing about the Dreamcast controller was that it was the first (other than the saturn nights controller) to place the joystick high enough on the left side to where your thumb naturally fell on it (where the XB and then 360 controller ended up putting their left one).
When I use the N64 I am usually unaware of how I hold it until look down. I naturally change my grip depending on the game.
Uggg I hated the N64 controller pure hate.
From the article "Industry Elite Praise U" (my favorite -- it's not really praise).
“There was total shock and amazement from the team. Nintendo really know how to keep us developers on our toes.”
