Wow, the size of the team working on Epic Mickey.
Hate the name, though. Epic Mickey. >_<
Someone at gaf tried another one
these actually look like different games. The state of FPS is sad. Why does Killzone 2 which takes place in the future have the same gun model as Call of Duty? Market saturation to follow soon.
FPS games are as good as they have ever been, as well they should, given the years of focus on the genre.
"Did someone say...market saturation?"
Not saying they are bad, their are just too many of them. the same thing happened to platformers in the 90s, 2D fighters and 3D fighters also in the 90s, driving sims and eventually the same thing will happed to FPS. They will still be around, but they will not be the main focus like they are now.
That's the way the market works, they see Call of duty and everyone copies them. Eventually the market has enough. Call of duty will always sell well, but the clones will disappear or they will become a shadow of their former selves, like Sonic.
To me, there seems to have been a constant fire hose of FPS games since the early 90's. I guess the difference this time around is that the Playstation now has FPS games, whereas in the prior two generations there were very few FPS games on that platform. Now there are just as many on PS as XB -- and the Wii even gets it's share.
While there was much press speculation about this happening, given bad internal polls for the current PM and party (there was a special election in a blue-chip seat that swung 26% against the incumbent) this came as a surprise to many.
The optimist proclaims we live in the best of all possible worlds
while the pessimist fears this is true.
